SUMEC Textile & Light Industry Confirmed as UNIQLO's Second-Tier Supplier
2022-06-25

SUMEC Textile & Light Industry was formally approved as a second-tier supplier of UNIQLO, a Japanese clothing brand owned by Fast Retailing, on June 15th after completing the factory assessment.
UNIQLO has high standards on suppliers’ refined management. The assessment covered the company’s corporate social responsibility and production process, including the working procedures of cutting, sewing, and washing, and several links regarding commodities, delivery time, and quality management, as well as 100-plus items including fire safety and human rights for the employees. Upholding “high standards and strict requirements”, SUMEC Textile & Light Industry has conducted self-inspections and self-corrections according to the checklist provided by the client, so as to improve the factory process, safety, and personnel management. After passing the review, SUMEC Textile & Light Industry has become a second-tier supplier of UNIQLO. The two parties have signed the first purchase order of the year 2022 for nearly 100,000 pieces, and the production is now in full swing.
SUMEC Textile & Light Industry has increased efforts to upgrade factory facilities, adopted an intelligent hanging rail system, which effectively resolves the problems typical to traditional assembly lines, such as great time consumption, transitional complexities between different stages in manufacturing, and product stains during transportation. These efforts are intended to improve productivity, ensure supply, and ensure product quality. A flexible single-piece flow production mode is put into effect to reduce cost and improve efficiency, with real-time updates of the production materials and process information on the system screen, sharing manufacturing data across the factory.
